Holcim's ECOPlanet low-carbon cement is designed to reduce CO2 emissions by 30 to 50 percent compared to standard cement while maintaining the same strength and workability contractors expect. The product uses blends with calcined clay, slag, and recycled materials to lower clinker content, making it a practical drop-in replacement for major infrastructure like highway bridges, rail structures, and commercial buildings. ECOPlanet is now available in over 30 markets, primarily in Europe and North America, and is positioned as a premium product. However, lifecycle costs can be neutral when CO2 pricing and green procurement rules are factored in. For investors, the product serves as a proof point that cement decarbonization can scale without disrupting construction workflows.
