Holcim and Paebbl Deploy First Carbon-Storing Concrete Slab in Germany
sustainableconstruction-now.comHolcim, Paebbl, and Goldbeck have completed the first industrial floor slab using carbon-storing concrete for a logistics center in southern Germany. The project used Paebbl Rebond material, which replaces a portion of traditional cement with mineralized CO2, resulting in a 15% reduction in cement volume. The 420-square-meter slab sequestered 886kg of CO2 by converting the gas into a stable mineral powder of magnesium carbonate and silicon dioxide. The project moved from concept to installation in six months following rigorous tests on material workability and bleeding behavior.
