The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has launched the Multi-Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory, known as MUSICO, to the Tiangong Space Station. This instrument is designed as a high-precision detector for carbon dioxide and methane point sources, aiming to improve the accuracy of emissions monitoring from space. This deployment marks the first scientific payload from Hong Kong on the station and supports broader goals for carbon tracking and climate monitoring. The project focuses on identifying specific emission sources to help verify decarbonization efforts.
