Himadri Speciality Chemical Invests ₹368 Crore in CNT Plant and Capacity Expansion
freepressjournal.inHimadri Speciality Chemical has approved a total capital expenditure of ₹368 crore to expand its manufacturing capacity for Anthraquinone and Carbazole and to build India's first Carbon Nano Tube (CNT) facility in West Bengal. The CNT plant, with a 200 MT annual capacity, is expected to be commissioned by Q4 FY27 and will use in-house developed technology. Carbon Nano Tubes are used in electric vehicles, energy storage, electronics, and industrial coatings, positioning Himadri among a select group of global manufacturers. The expansion also includes a ₹170 crore investment for a Super Speciality Carbon Black facility with 6,000 MTPA capacity, set for Q4 FY28. The company is funding these projects through internal accruals. This move reduces import dependence and supports domestic production of materials critical for clean energy and advanced manufacturing sectors.
