Herman Miller Reduces Aeron Chair Embodied Carbon by 12%
digitalmore.coHerman Miller has updated the Aeron chair to reduce its global average embodied carbon footprint by 12%. The company achieved this through generative design to reduce aluminum use in the base and the integration of bio-based nylons and post-industrial recycled plastics. Since 2022, these material changes have resulted in over 7,000 metric tons of carbon savings. The company is also scaling its use of ocean-diverted plastics, reporting over 660 metric tons of plastic diverted from landfills and oceans as of 2026.
