Henkel achieves carbon neutral production at manufacturing sites in India and Turkiye

Henkel has reached carbon neutral production at its Kurkumbh facility in India and Gebkim site in Turkiye by eliminating Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. The company replaced fossil fuel heating systems with electric alternatives and switched to 100 percent renewable electricity. At Kurkumbh, this eliminates about 11,300 tons of CO2 equivalent annually. At Gebkim, replacing a natural gas boiler with an electric boiler cuts roughly 956 tons of CO2 equivalent each year. These projects show how industrial manufacturing can decarbonize by electrifying heat processes and sourcing clean power. Henkel plans to use this approach as a model for other sites globally. The company targets full operational decarbonization by 2030. The work at both facilities demonstrates that eliminating fossil fuels from production is feasible today with existing technology.
