Hebei Shoulang earns ISCC EU recycled carbon fuel certification for steel waste gas ethanol
streetinsider.comChinese steel plant Hebei Shoulang has received ISCC EU Recycled Carbon Fuel certification for ethanol made from steel mill waste gases. The facility in Tangshan uses LanzaTech's gas fermentation technology to convert off-gases into ethanol, and the certificate was issued after an audit by SCS Global Services and Beijing Green Forest Certification. The certification is recognized under the EU's Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) and approved by the UK Department for Transport. It allows verified volumes to be marketed as recycled carbon fuel in EU marine and road markets, with EU and UK aviation fuel markets available subject to additional requirements. LanzaTech also worked with Brookfield on the facility's renewable power requirements.
