HD Hyundai Site Solution low temperature coating halves carbon emissions from construction equipment painting
en.sedaily.comHD Hyundai Site Solution developed a low-temperature curing coating that cuts carbon emissions from the painting process for excavators and wheel loaders by about 53 percent. The new coating cures at 50 to 60 degrees Celsius instead of the usual 80 to 100 degrees, reducing thermal energy demand. The company estimates it will save 320,000 cubic meters of LNG and cut 689 tons of CO2 annually once deployed at its Ulsan, Incheon, and Gunsan sites. Volatile organic compound emissions drop by 69 percent with the switch from acrylic polyurethane to a polyaspartic resin. That matters as environmental regulations tighten globally. HD Hyundai is also testing the coating on production lines and applying low-VOC coatings to electrified product lines in China. The move is part of a broader push to reach carbon neutrality at its sites by 2050.
