HD Hyundai Shows LNG Carrier and CO2 Shipping Tech at Gastech 2026
starnewskorea.comHD Hyundai is using Gastech 2026 in Bangkok to showcase next generation gas carrier designs, including LNG carriers, floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs), and a 35,000 cubic meter liquefied CO2 carrier. The company says it received design approval from Lloyd's Register for an LNG carrier with bow living quarters and wind assisted propulsion, and it is seeking certification for Type C tank alternatives and an electric propulsion system for a large LNG carrier. The event runs September 14-17 and is expected to bring together over 1,000 companies and 50,000 visitors. HD Hyundai's five affiliates, including HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and HD Hyundai Electric, are presenting together. The focus is on responding to tighter environmental regulations while keeping vessels efficient, but the announcements are mostly design approvals and exhibition plans rather than confirmed orders.
