Hanwha Power and Pembina Pipeline have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore waste heat recovery at Canadian compressor stations. The project aims to use supercritical carbon dioxide as a working fluid to generate electricity from waste heat, reducing carbon emissions without requiring water for operation. This collaboration focuses on the technical and economic feasibility of deploying these systems across North American midstream infrastructure. By reusing heat from gas turbines, the companies intend to improve energy efficiency and lower the carbon footprint of pipeline operations.
