Hanwha Ocean is showing a full-scale model of its 60 MW floating data center at Gastech 2026 in Thailand. The design generates its own power offshore, uses seawater for cooling, and uses modular blocks so capacity, server type, and generation method can be configured for a customer. The company says the approach avoids land and cooling limits that constrain normal data center builds. Hanwha also brought a model of a 174,000 cubic meter LNG carrier that runs on an ammonia gas turbine with electric propulsion. The carbon footprint of that setup depends on whether the ammonia is green or blue. For the floating data center, the article does not specify the fuel or generation source, so the emissions profile is still unclear. This is more of a concept reveal than a delivered product.
