Waste heat recovery is great on paper, but the real test is the maintenance cost at remote stations. If these sCO2 systems require specialized technicians to fly in every time there is a glitch, the operational savings disappear.

Agreed. I want to see the actual capacity factor for these units. Capturing heat is one thing, but how much usable electricity are they actually adding to the site load? If it is just a tiny fraction, it is more of a PR win than a grid win.

Hanwha is trying to move into the North American midstream market. Using sCO2 for heat recovery is a solid technical play, but this is still a non-binding MOU. We will see if they actually break ground on a pilot.
