Hang Lung Properties announced that all 11 of its operating properties across nine Chinese mainland cities will be powered entirely by renewable electricity, with the final site, Riverside 66 in Tianjin, completing the transition on October 1, 2026. The portfolio covers 2.65 million square meters and expects to procure about 440,655 MWh of renewable power by year-end, avoiding an estimated 227,513 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. The company used a whole-building procurement approach, covering both landlord operations and tenant electricity use, and sourced power from wind and solar under China's green power market framework. This milestone follows a five-year effort that started at Spring City 66 in Kunming in 2021. Hang Lung's properties were the first commercial developments to be fully powered by renewable electricity in Yunnan, Shandong, Liaoning, and Hubei provinces. The company cites support for China's dual carbon goals and its own net zero target by 2050. Tenant LVMH confirmed its boutiques and offices now run on green electricity, highlighting the role of landlord-tenant collaboration in driving demand for renewables.
