The H4PERION project is a European Union initiative focused on transitioning long-distance maritime transport to zero-carbon operations. The consortium is developing a full-scale hydrogen-capable internal combustion engine and testing it on the Aurora Botnia ferry to prove the reliability of hydrogen fuel at sea. Deltamarin and 15 other partners are working to create scalable integration designs and safety standards. This effort aims to move hydrogen from a theoretical concept to a practical, industrial application for various ship types, reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the global shipping sector.
