H4 Marseille Fos, a joint venture of Hy2gen France and H2V developers, signed a strategic partnership with EDF to secure low-carbon electricity for a major e-SAF plant at Fos-sur-Mer, France. The project will produce 75,000 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel annually from 2032 using methanol-to-jet technology, cutting emissions by up to 84% versus fossil kerosene. A ten-year nuclear power agreement (CAPN) covers around 150 MW of capacity, supplemented by renewable PPAs, to meet the plant's 2.8 TWh annual power demand. The electricity mix combines nuclear and renewables, which helps the project qualify for RFNBO certification under EU rules because France's grid carbon intensity is below 18 g CO2 per megajoule. Total investment is EUR 1.6 billion, with 165 direct jobs. The project also supports the EU ReFuelEU Aviation target of 10% e-SAF in aviation fuels by 2040 and France's hydrogen strategy. Final investment decision is expected in 2028.
