H2CHP, a Durham University spinout, has raised £1.5 million to develop free-piston linear generators. These systems are designed to provide low-emission backup power for data centers and industrial sites using hydrogen, ammonia, and e-fuels. The funding round includes support from Innovate UK and various venture capital firms. The company aims to reduce the carbon footprint of energy-intensive infrastructure while improving power resilience through fuel-flexible technology.
