Gujarat cuts carbon emissions by 49.79 million tonnes in FY26 with record renewable generation
constructionworld.inGujarat state reduced carbon emissions by 49.79 million tonnes in fiscal year 2025-26, driven by record renewable electricity generation of 67,655 million units. The state government attributes the reduction to accelerated solar and wind deployment, improved grid integration, and policy measures including the Integrated Renewable Energy Policy 2026 and Green Hydrogen Policy. Over the past five years, Gujarat has prevented a cumulative 179 million tonnes of carbon emissions through renewable projects. The state targets 100 GW of renewable capacity by 2030, with projects like the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Kutch combining solar, wind, and storage to manage variability and reduce fossil fuel dependence.
