GS Global invests in Hooxi Partners to expand carbon credit business
koreajoongangdaily.comGS Global, the trading arm of South Korea's GS Group, has made a strategic investment in Hooxi Partners, a climate fintech company that develops carbon credit methodologies and manages emissions-reduction projects. The financial terms were not disclosed. The move gives GS Global an in-house pathway to identify, develop, and trade carbon credits rather than relying on outside brokers. The company plans to link the new capability to existing businesses, including electric bus conversions, solar power, biomass, and resource recycling. Emissions cuts from those projects could be registered as Korean Offset Credits and sold to buyers in Korea and abroad. GS Global also said it will use its overseas networks in steel, energy, and industrial materials to source reduction projects for international clients. This is a signal that Korean trading houses are moving earlier into carbon credit origination, not just buying credits on the spot market. The practical test will be whether the projects pass validation and registration under the Korean offset framework.
