GS Global Invests in Carbon Credit Firm Hooxi Partners Ahead of Korea's Fourth Emissions Trading Scheme
en.sedaily.comGS Global, the Korean trading house, has made an equity investment in Hooxi Partners, a climate tech company that develops carbon credit methodologies and operates reduction projects. The move comes ahead of South Korea's fourth emissions trading scheme, which runs from 2026 through 2030. With a tighter emissions cap and more paid allocations, companies are expected to face greater difficulty securing credits and higher price volatility, so GS Global is positioning itself to turn carbon credits into a growth business. Hooxi Partners focuses on program-based reduction projects in transport, bundling EV adoption into a single management structure to generate Korean Offset Credits (KOCs). Its revenue grew from 200 million won in 2024 to 3.2 billion won in 2025, with a projected 7.8 billion won this year. GS Global says it will combine Hooxi's expertise with its own trading network to expand into credit trading and brokerage, and to identify new reduction projects in electric buses, solar, biomass, and resource recycling. The investment also opens an overseas channel. GS Global plans to use its existing steel, energy, and industrial goods customer base to win carbon reduction project orders abroad, while developing KOC assets for domestic and international buyers. The deal signals how Korean industrial groups are building carbon asset capabilities ahead of stricter domestic and global regulations.
