Growthpoint reaches 12 net-zero carbon certifications across South African portfolio, targets 20 by 2028
engineeringnews.co.zaGrowthpoint Properties has achieved 12 net-zero carbon certifications across its South African office, logistics, and industrial portfolio. The JSE-listed real estate investment trust is working toward 20 certified buildings by 2028 and full portfolio carbon neutrality by 2050. The certifications cover properties in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, including industrial estates and logistics parks. The certified buildings use rooftop solar PV, energy-efficient systems, and detailed monitoring to cut grid electricity use. Growthpoint's logistics and industrial assets have been the strongest contributors, with improvements in energy performance compared to typical industrial buildings as defined by the Green Building Council South Africa. The company also uses electricity wheeling and renewable energy certificates to support its decarbonisation goals.
