Groundwork BioAg's Rootella Carbon Programme Earns BBB BeZero Rating for Soil Carbon Credits
global-agriculture.comGroundwork BioAg's Rootella Carbon programme has received a BBB rating from BeZero Carbon, an independent assessment corporate buyers use to compare carbon removal quality and risk. The programme generates soil carbon credits in the United States under Verra's VM0042 methodology. It relies on physical soil sampling rather than modeled estimates alone, with 593 sampling points and 915 treated-to-control pairs in the 2023 cohort. Groundwork reports annual sequestration of 1.5-3.5 tCO2e per acre and says its credits represent 100% carbon dioxide removal. A 26.43% uncertainty deduction was applied in the first monitoring period. The company issued 19,568 tCO2e in Q2 2026 and targets 245,000 tCO2e in Q1 2027 and 500,000 tCO2e by Q4 2027. Up to 70% of net project proceeds go to participating growers, which the company says reduces reversal risk.
