Grid Crux Energy Solutions has signed a 10-year energy-as-a-service agreement with Dolphin Telecoms to install and operate a solar system at the Dolphin Lagos Cable Landing Station. The station connects Nigeria to the Africa Coast to Europe submarine cable, so keeping it powered is critical for international communications. The solar installation is projected to generate around 144 MWh per year and more than 1,500 MWh over the contract term, cutting diesel use, cost, and emissions at the site. Under the deal, Grid Crux handles design, financing, installation, and long-term operation, which means Dolphin gets renewable power without upfront capital costs. The system includes real-time remote monitoring and will run alongside existing power sources. The companies say the model can be repeated at other landing stations and data centers across Africa. Grid Crux says the project took three years to develop and marks the first renewable energy-as-a-service deployment at an ACE landing station in Anglophone Africa. It also expands Grid Crux beyond commercial and industrial solar into digital infrastructure, including battery storage and mini-grids.
