GreenRoc Mining has released a cradle-to-gate carbon footprint assessment for active anode material from its Amitsoq graphite project in Greenland. The study, using ISO-aligned methodology, estimates 1.60 kilograms of CO2 equivalent per kilogram of anode material, placing it at the lower end of industry benchmarks. Electricity use in downstream processing dominates emissions, so low-carbon power procurement and process optimization could further cut intensity. The assessment covers extraction, transport, and processing into coated spherical purified graphite. Mining contributes only a small share of total emissions. GreenRoc aims to build a vertically integrated supply chain for European battery and EV makers. However, the company is still pre-revenue, with ongoing losses and cash burn. Execution on power sourcing and feasibility studies will determine whether the low-carbon claim holds up in practice.
