Green Saurashtra Summit 2026 in Rajkot urges wider adoption of green building practices across the region

The CII-Indian Green Building Council hosted the Green Saurashtra Summit 2026 in Rajkot on 19 September, bringing together government officials, developers, and industry leaders to push for broader adoption of sustainable construction. The region now has 102 IGBC-rated projects covering about 0.35 billion square feet, with residential and commercial developments leading the way. Discussions focused on scaling up energy-efficient design, water conservation, low-carbon materials, and climate-responsive planning across Saurashtra's growing built environment. Speakers emphasized moving from awareness to implementation, with a call for stronger collaboration between government, industry, and communities. The summit covered practical solutions for water and energy efficiency, Net Zero pathways, and next-generation building technologies. As Saurashtra's construction sector expands, these measures aim to reduce environmental impact while improving building performance and occupant wellbeing.
