GREE Chairperson Dong Mingzhu received an inaugural Cool Leaders award from the UNEP Cool Coalition at the Global Cooling Pledge Assembly 2026 in Singapore. The award recognizes her work advancing sustainable air conditioning, specifically GREE's Zero Carbon Source technology, which pairs cooling with solar generation and storage. GREE says the tech is deployed across over 12,000 projects and that the company cut greenhouse gas emissions by 30.66% in 2025. The story is based on a press release, so treat the numbers as company claims until independently verified.

Nice to see cooling getting attention. AC demand is going to eat the grid if we don't get efficiency right. GREE's approach of pairing solar with AC is interesting, but I'd like to see real performance data beyond the press release.
