GORD, GCC, and EPDA sign MoU to boost carbon markets and climate action in the Gulf

The Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD), the Global Carbon Council (GCC), and the Environment Protection and Development Authority (EPDA) of Ras Al Khaimah have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to accelerate climate action in the region. The partnership aims to develop high-integrity carbon markets, improve biodiversity conservation, and promote sustainable urban development. The Global Carbon Council brings credibility as the first internationally recognized carbon crediting program from the Global South, with approvals under CORSIA and ICVCM. GORD contributes expertise in green building standards and scientific research, while EPDA provides regulatory authority in the UAE. The agreement aligns with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and focuses on structured frameworks for greenhouse gas verification and asset registries.
