The Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD), the Global Carbon Council (GCC), and the Environment Protection and Development Authority (EPDA) of Ras Al Khaimah signed a memorandum of understanding to accelerate climate action and develop high-integrity carbon markets. The partnership aims to create robust carbon asset programs, improve greenhouse gas verification, and align with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. GORD brings scientific expertise and green building standards, while EPDA provides regulatory authority in the UAE. This collaboration targets sustainable urban development, biodiversity conservation, and low-carbon circular economy initiatives. By bridging national governance with global market integrity, the partners hope to set a blueprint for regional carbon market growth. The agreement comes as Gulf governments seek integrated approaches to environmental stewardship, climate mitigation, and technological innovation.
