Google Signs 15-Year Solar PPA with RWE for 155 MW Oklahoma Project
carboncredits.comGoogle has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement with RWE for the entire output of the 155 MW Crooked Creek Solar project in McCurtain County, Oklahoma. The project is RWE's first solar venture in the state and is expected to begin commercial operations in 2028. The electricity will support Google's operations in the Southwest Power Pool, where the company is expanding its clean energy footprint. The deal is part of Google's broader push to secure more renewable power for its data centers. In 2025, Google signed agreements for over 12 GW of new clean energy capacity and added nearly 2 GW of carbon-free electricity to grids serving its operations. The company also reported a 2% decline in its combined Scope 1 and market-based Scope 2 emissions in 2025, marking the second consecutive year of lower operational emissions. Beyond the corporate benefits, the project is expected to create up to 250 construction jobs and generate about $1.4 million in state and local tax revenue during construction. RWE estimates the solar facility could bring in approximately $25 million over its operating life for local programs, schools, and emergency services in southeastern Oklahoma.
