Google and Energy Dome have announced a 23MW/200MWh CO2 battery project in County Offaly, Ireland. The long-duration energy storage facility will use compressed CO2 to store surplus renewable energy and release it during peak demand. It has secured a grid connection to the Greater Dublin network and a 10-year capacity contract from EirGrid, with commissioning expected in 2028. The project is the first bilateral commercial deal between the two companies under a broader global deployment agreement.
