Google AI for the Planet Accelerator Selects 4 Indian Climate Tech Startups: Terrastack, Varaha, Farmers for Forests, Climitra Carbon

Google has picked four Indian startups for the first Asia-Pacific edition of its AI for the Planet accelerator. Terrastack, Varaha Climate, Farmers for Forests, and Climitra Carbon join a 16-member cohort spanning agriculture, biodiversity, climate resilience, and carbon solutions. The three-month program includes a bootcamp in Singapore, virtual support through December, and access to Google's AI tools for environmental use cases. Each company works on a different piece of the climate data puzzle. Terrastack combines satellite and agricultural data to provide plot-level intelligence for smallholder farmers. Varaha Climate uses remote sensing to verify regenerative farming and carbon removal. Farmers for Forests applies AI drones to agroforestry and biodiversity measurement, while Climitra Carbon uses Geo-AI to verify removal of invasive vegetation and convert it into biochar. The selection signals a push toward measurable climate outcomes rather than vague pledges. For carbon markets, the interesting part is verification: more reliable monitoring could make it easier for smallholder farmers to participate in carbon programs and for buyers to trust the credits. The program runs until a demo day in Singapore on December 10.
