Gold Standard has launched G-RESET, a new carbon credit methodology for grid-connected renewable energy, storage, and power system projects. The methodology replaces location-based screening with project-specific eligibility and additionality tests, so carbon finance can support projects that genuinely need it to move forward. It covers new generation, upgrades to existing plants, energy storage, captive power, and virtual power plants. The move responds to a simple grid problem: adding renewables is not enough if clean power gets curtailed or cannot be delivered when needed. G-RESET is meant to help developers finance storage and flexibility along with generation. Gold Standard also published final Activity Requirements for Energy Systems and Efficiency and opened consultation on SPARK, a small-scale renewable access methodology. Together they form a broader framework for using carbon finance across the energy transition.
