GNT's food colour carbon footprint method gets ISO 14067 verification
foodanddrinktechnology.comGNT Group, maker of EXBERRY plant-based food colours, said it became one of the first food colour manufacturers to get third-party verification of its product carbon footprint method. TÜV SÜD checked the calculation against ISO 14067, an international standard for greenhouse gas accounting. The verification covers a cradle-to-gate model, meaning emissions from raw material growing and harvesting through processing up to the factory gate, but not downstream stages like packaging, distribution, or use. For food and beverage brands, the value is mainly in Scope 3 reporting. A verified number from a specific supplier is stronger than relying on industry averages or proxy data. It also supports ESG reporting and environmental product declarations, and reduces greenwashing risk when a company wants to make environmental claims on pack. The article does not include actual emissions figures for EXBERRY products, only the verification of the methodology, so buyers would need to request the underlying data.
