The global pipeline for renewable and low-carbon methanol is expanding, with GENA Solutions reporting a total capacity of 61.6 million tonnes projected by 2031. This includes a significant mix of e-methanol, biomethanol, and low-carbon variants aimed at decarbonizing the maritime industry in line with IMO 2030 and 2050 goals. China is currently a major driver of this growth, with over 3 million tonnes of capacity under construction. Europe also maintains a strong pipeline, with a heavy reliance on hydrogen as a primary feedstock for its projects.
