World Bank data shows that global carbon pricing revenue reached a record $107 billion in 2025, marking a 2% increase from the previous year. This growth is driven by the expansion of emissions trading systems and carbon taxes across 87 different policies worldwide. New systems have recently launched in India, Japan, Vietnam, Serbia, and Mauritania. With potential new policies in Brazil and Turkey, nearly one third of global greenhouse gas emissions could soon be covered by direct carbon pricing.
