carbonherald.comNew data from the ICAP Status Report 2026 shows that carbon pricing is expanding rapidly into major emerging economies. There are now 41 active emissions trading systems globally, with Japan, India, and Vietnam preparing to launch their own national programs this year. Established markets are also tightening rules. China is moving toward absolute emissions caps by 2027, while the EU is expanding its system to cover buildings and transport.
