A new World Bank report shows that 87 carbon pricing policies are now active worldwide, covering nearly 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions. In 2025, these mechanisms raised $107 billion, a significant increase from previous years, with notable progress in emerging economies like India and Vietnam. While the total volume of carbon credits grew by 8% between 2024 and 2025, overall prices saw a slight dip. However, high-quality projects, such as reforestation and those meeting international aviation standards, continue to earn premium pricing.
