Global Carbon Council and CIFOR-ICRAF Partner to Improve Nature-Based Carbon Credits
qatar-tribune.comThe Global Carbon Council (GCC) and CIFOR-ICRAF have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to integrate scientific research with carbon crediting frameworks. The partnership aims to develop high-integrity baseline methodologies for nature-based solutions, specifically targeting terrestrial and coastal ecosystems like mangroves and peatlands. This collaboration addresses a significant gap in nature finance, where funding for nature-destructive activities far outweighs investments in restoration. By aligning scientific evidence from the Global South with market standards, the two organizations intend to increase transparency and attract more private and public capital into credible carbon projects.
