Glen Carbon Advances Schon Park EV Charger Plan With $50K Ameren Grant
theintelligencer.comGlen Carbon's Public Service Committee voted 3-0 on Sept. 8 to recommend installing an electric vehicle charger at Schon Park. The proposal now heads to the Village Board of Trustees. The project is expected to cost $53,359.28, including $24,559.28 for the charger from Utilitra, $20,000 for site construction, and $8,800 for engineering. The village plans to cover the cost with a $50,000 grant from Ameren Illinois and $25,000 already in the village budget. Ameren developed an electrification plan for the village about 18 months ago, and later told officials a grant was available. Earlier bids for a charger came in too high and were rejected. If approved, the charger would give residents a public EV charging option at the park. A village employee will monitor the charger software, and other staff will be trained on it.
