Glassdome, a carbon data management company, has launched a pilot project for Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data exchange with KG Mobility (KGM) and LG Electronics Vehicle Solution Company. This is the first time an Asian automotive OEM and its suppliers have conducted end-to-end carbon data exchange across the supply chain using Catena-X, Europe's largest data ecosystem for the automotive industry. The project connects the entire supply chain from raw materials to final assembly for components in KGM's Musso vehicle, covering multiple tiers of suppliers. The project uses primary, shop-floor-level data rather than database estimates, and complies with the Catena-X PCF Rulebook. This is significant because regulations like the EU Battery Regulation, CBAM, and CSRD are making data exchange networks like Catena-X essential infrastructure for exporters. Glassdome's Integrated Carbon Management Platform collects energy and process data from manufacturing sites and performs PCF calculation and verification. The company already works with major players like Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and Lotte InfraCell across automotive, battery, steel, aluminum, and textiles sectors.

Agreed. The multi tier aspect down to Tier 4 is the part that actually makes this useful. Most PCF exercises stop at Tier 1. If they can pull real data from raw material suppliers that changes the game for Scope 3.

This is exactly the kind of infrastructure CBAM and the EU Battery Regulation were designed to push. If Asian exporters want to keep selling into Europe they need systems like this. The regulatory tail is wagging the dog here.

Glassdome already working with Samsung SDI and L&F gives them credibility. But the real test is whether smaller suppliers down the chain can afford the integration. MES/ERP hookups are not cheap for Tier 3 and 4 shops.
