Bono East Regional Minister Francis Owusu Antwi is pushing for expanded carbon credit initiatives to mitigate the effects of climate change in Ghana. The strategy focuses on mainstreaming carbon offsetting through large scale tree planting and climate smart agriculture to protect food productivity and local livelihoods. As part of the Agroforestry for Carbon Credit project, over one million economic tree seedlings are being distributed to farmers across the Bono, Bono East, and Savannah regions. The effort combines reforestation with new local bylaws to combat bushfires and improve soil carbon sequestration through minimum tillage and fertilizer management.
