Gevo Shifts Financing Strategy for North Dakota Sustainable Aviation Fuel Project

The company recently withdrew its application for a $1.46 billion DOE loan guarantee, citing a misalignment over new requirements regarding advanced oil recovery. Gevo is now pursuing private capital to secure funding by the end of 2026. In addition to the SAF project, Gevo is expanding its North Dakota biorefinery. The company plans to increase total ethanol capacity to 150 million gallons per year through a combination of debottlenecking existing assets and constructing a new production facility.
