Gevo Sells 10,000 Carbon Removal Credits via ClimeFi, Stock Gains 5%
carboncredits.comGevo completed a sale of 10,000 carbon removal credits through ClimeFi, with the credits generated at its North Dakota ethanol facility. The site has stored more than 700,000 tonnes of CO2 through bioenergy with carbon capture and storage. The buyer and price were not disclosed, so the deal's financial impact remains unclear, even though Gevo shares rose about 5% in European trading. Gevo is targeting more than $30 million in annual carbon business revenue and has also sold most of its 2026 Section 45Z tax credits for a projected $70 million. Those are separate revenue streams, and the company still needs to show it can sell credits at scale. The sale is a concrete delivery milestone in a durable carbon removal market where contracted volumes still far outpace actual deliveries.
