Gevo has started commissioning a CO2 capture system at its North Dakota ethanol plant. The new beer degassing setup removes dissolved CO2 during fermentation and sends more of it to storage, as part of a broader debottlenecking push. Management expects the project to lift output and returns by 10 to 15 percent once new fermenter and liquefaction capacity comes online by the end of 2026. Gevo is also targeting a longer-term expansion to around 75 million gallons per year, a move it says could roughly double output and returns by 2028. A steam turbine commissioned in August already cut purchased electricity at the site. The stock reaction has been positive, but the key question is execution, since the larger expansion depends on the debottlenecking staying on schedule.
