Germany's largest direct air capture facility opens in Berlin, built in 18 months by Ucaneo
chemanager-online.comUcaneo has opened Germany's largest direct air capture facility in Berlin, moving from groundbreaking to full operation in just 18 months. The plant uses an electrochemical platform to capture CO2 from the air for industrial use in fuels and chemicals. The company says the facility marks the start of a scalable carbon economy in Europe. The project was inaugurated on July 2 at Ucaneo's DAC Campus in Marzahn-Hellersdorf. Speakers at the event, including Markus Rohner of Everllence, stressed the need for faster action on climate technology. Ucaneo is already planning a commercial-scale facility in northeastern Germany with ten times the capture capacity, targeting a 2028 opening.
