Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy has opened a new funding round under the Federal Funding Programme for Industry and Climate Protection (BIK). Industrial companies can apply by 6 December 2026 for support on research, pilot projects, feasibility studies and CO2 storage work. Funding is subject to budget availability. The programme targets sectors where process emissions are hard to cut through electrification alone, including cement, chemicals, steel, glass, paper, waste processing, food and mechanical engineering. It also covers direct air capture and products that use captured CO2. In the 2025 round, 38 projects received about 476 million euros in public funding, with an expected 1.05 billion euros in private investment. The new call is meant to keep that pipeline moving while German industry tries to lower emissions without losing competitiveness.
