The project at Lisnafin Park installed 100-meter deep boreholes and solar PV to power the heating, cutting the building's carbon footprint and reducing energy costs for tenants. The Housing Executive, which owns over 80,000 properties, sees this as a pilot for future sustainability strategies. The six flats are designed for residents over 55 with assisted living needs. Tenants report consistent indoor temperatures, lower bills, and improved comfort. The system uses ground-sourced and air-sourced heat pumps that can generate up to four times the energy they consume per unit of electricity. Combined with solar panels, the setup aims to shield households from volatile oil and gas markets while meeting modern building performance standards.
