GeoRedox and Canada Nickel launch first geologic hydrogen well at Crawford Nickel Project in Ontario
environmentjournal.caGeoRedox Corporation and Canada Nickel Company have signed an MOU to develop the world's first stimulated geologic hydrogen well at the Crawford Nickel Project near Timmins, Ontario. The project will test GeoRedox's technology for producing zero-carbon hydrogen from ultramafic rock formations, the same geology that underlies Canada Nickel's projects in the Timmins Nickel District. GeoRedox is funding the demonstration, while Canada Nickel provides site access, rock samples, and technical data. If successful, the program could supply carbon-free hydrogen for a zero-carbon industrial cluster producing nickel, chromium, and cobalt from the region's critical minerals. Crawford is expected to be one of the Western world's largest nickel sulphide projects and among the lowest-carbon nickel operations. The partnership aims to validate the technology at a real mining site with existing infrastructure, moving toward a broader industrial decarbonization model in Northeast Ontario.
