GEODIS Mass Balance mechanism recertified for carbon accounting in European road transport
webwire.comGEODIS has renewed the certification of its Mass Balance mechanism, verified by DEKRA CERTIFICATION, which allows customers to claim CO2 emission reductions from alternative energy use in road transport. The mechanism allocates reductions from HVO, B100, and electric vehicles to customers who cannot directly use these fuels due to infrastructure or range constraints. Customers can choose from 60%, 82%, or 90% reduction levels compared to diesel. The certification confirms traceability and independent annual auditing of the carbon accounting methodology. GEODIS targets a 42% reduction in owned fleet emissions and a 25% cut in subcontracted transport carbon intensity by 2030 under SBTi. This approach provides a practical option for logistics decarbonization when direct electrification or alternative fuel use is not feasible.
