Gentari, the green energy arm of PETRONAS, has completed a 3.1 MWp solar photovoltaic installation at the gateway@KLIA2 airport mall in Kuala Lumpur. The system uses 5,212 panels across rooftop and car park areas covering about 10,500 square meters. It is expected to generate roughly 4,277 MWh of electricity per year and cut carbon emissions by around 3,310 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually. The project was done under a power purchase agreement with Segi Astana, the mall operator, and adds to existing clean energy measures at KLIA Terminal 2 including EV charging points. The installation supports Malaysia's National Energy Transition Roadmap, which targets higher renewable energy adoption and lower emissions across key sectors. Gentari, the green energy arm of PETRONAS, carried out the work through its subsidiary Gentari Renewables. The solar car park structures also provide shaded parking for passengers and staff. This is a practical example of on-site solar deployment within transport infrastructure, with clear generation and emissions reduction figures provided.
