Genshin Forest Opens at Yanghwa Hangang Park: 6.3 Billion Steps, 4,010 Trees, and 616 Tonnes CO2 Reduction

HoYoverse Korea created the Genshin Forest at Yanghwa Hangang Park in Seoul to celebrate Genshin Impact's 6th anniversary. The project involved 530,000 participants in a step-counting campaign that logged 6.3 billion steps, cutting an estimated 616 tonnes of CO2. Around 100 users planted 4,010 trees across two volunteer days, and the forest is expected to absorb 2.67 tonnes of CO2 annually. Donations from a related campaign will fund additional planting. The forest is open to the public and marks the first corporate forest by a game company in Hangang Park. The initiative demonstrates how gaming communities can contribute to urban greening and carbon reduction. While the annual absorption figure is modest, the broader engagement and awareness benefits may outweigh the direct sequestration numbers.
